Who We Are

Monotone blue color icon logo-01.png

Upcycled Abode is NOT just a “house flipping” business.

We are the ultimate recyclers. Rather than produce new construction to fulfill the need for housing, we save distressed structures, that still have potential to be people’s homes. By re-using the grounds already disrupted by development we are prolonging the scarcity of land and preserving our earth.

We are advocates for skilled trades men and women and encourage the next generations to associate great value to hands on professionals and physical work.

We are a TEAM that creates an impact on our communities and our world throughout the process of saving one property at a time.

We believe that our company is only as strong as it’s people, starting with its leadership. We place major importance on our growth individually and as a whole. We embrace change and recognize we are in a business that will require constant evolution.

We are intentional in our daily lives at home and at work. We put God, ourselves and our family first. We work hard. We play hard. We are creative thinkers. We are kind and forgiving to ourselves and others. We recognize that struggle is part of the growth process. We are driven. We live life with purpose, and we DREAM BIG.

Amber Denning
Co-Owner, Upcycled Abode

Amber has had an interest in construction, design, and improving spaces since childhood, and she’s always loved and admired older homes. She attended Ball State University for Interior Design and Marketing, taking a position with a construction company after completing her undergrad degree. In 2008, Amber began working for a realtor and real estate investor as project manager on residential rehabs, before obtaining a real estate license in both Indiana and Ohio in 2009.

Her unique combination of skills led to success managing projects and her desire to pursue the work full time. In 2014, Upcycled Abode was born. Amber’s husband Nathan joined the Upcycled Abode team in 2019, and they haven’t looked back – working on several home rehab projects in the Southeastern Indiana/Tri-State area each year. Amber still holds an active real estate license, and serves as the company’s primary project manager, designer, and general contractor.

Nathan Denning
Co-Owner, Upcycled Abode

Nathan is an Industrial Electrician by trade, and a member of the local 212 IBEW since 2002. He’s a self-taught carpenter with an appreciation for the skilled trades. He’s also always teaching himself how to do home improvements. Nathan is naturally good at working with his hands, with a creative eye for design, while also understanding mechanics and construction. His experience with home rehabbing and real estate began when he turned his first home into a rental property when Nathan and Amber got married.

The couple worked on one of their first homes together – a fixer upper – and were able to rehab and sell the property, realizing that it was a great avenue for them to pursue. Nathan saw Amber build Upcycled Abode from the ground up and after seeing the potential, he left the electrical trade and now works full time on Upcycled Abode. He serves as a project manager and general contractor.
